Seth smiled at Ace. Of course. He looked over at Kikoto, and smiled, then helped Ace stand, and picked him up over his back, shifted him to be comfortable, and they started walking.
Kineta hesitated to follow, then walked slowly after the others, softly closing the door behind her. She lagged behind by about thirty feet, thinking, her strides slow, but long.

Soon they were home and Kikoto took Ace from Seth and hugged him tight. "Ace, were home. Do you remember your home? What about your books?" She looked at him, he was still watching Seth, and gave no answer. Why does he not take his gaze off you Seth? She sat Ace down on a chair. He was able to keep himself sitting, this was a good sign.

I don't know...I really don't. But it's weird. Seth sighed softly, and helped get Ace comfortable, then found a book and gave it to Ace. "Why don't you read for a little while?"
Kineta stood outside for a long time, letting rain start to fall, then she slipped inside and quietly closed the door. She stealthily crept across the floor, and was about to go into her room, then someone caught her shoulder.

Ace finally took his eyes off Seth and looked at the book. He blinked a few times and opened it, then just dropped it and looked back at Seth.
Kikoto smiled. "Why don't you try talking to your brother?" She looked back at Seth. Maybe hes read that one? She walked over and got another book, then gave it to Ace, she was sure he hadent read that one, because they had just got it. She watched him look at it, then open it, then drop it again and look back at Seth. He sure seems to love you more then ever Seth. She watched Seth, knowing he was starting to get creeped out. Wy don't you ask him what hes doing? Maybe he will respond?

It's a little creepy having him stare at me for so long, I gotta admit. Seth murmured, then stood beside Ace. "What are you doin', Ace?" He smiled down at his son, trying not to get really creeped out by being stared at for an hour.
Kineta looked at her mother with tormented eyes. "It's my fault he got attacked, you know." She didn't move, only staring past Kikoto, almost as if in a trance, looking at the wall beyond. She knew it was her fault.

Ace blinked, but did not answer. He heard his Mother speak, "Try asking him a yes or no question, and if he blinks once, thats yes, twice is a no." He blinked once.
Kikoto turned. "You know its not your fault. But if you wish to go, go, just promise me you will come back to him?"

"It IS my fault. I went to the school." Kineta murmured, hesitating, shifting from side to side, her green-yellow eyes flickering from Ace, to Seth, back to her mother.
"Do you want to read?" Seth asked, watching Ace closely.

Ace blinked twice: No.
Kikoto sighed.

"Can you talk at all?" Seth asked, still watching his son.
Kineta turned to watch her brother with interested eyes.

Ace's face changed. Now it looked confused. He did not blink, all he did was stare at Seth.

Seth was more than a little creeped out at being stared at. "Ace?" He cocked his head. This is creeping me out...
Kineta sighed softly. She didn't know whether to tell Kikoto exactly what she had done at school the other day, she knew that she would probably be stuck in her room for days on end if she did, if she didn't, her mom would never believe that it really was her fault.

Ace turned his head, and opened his mouth, as if trying to talk, but nothing came out. Suddenly Kikoto brother a pencil and paper.
Kikoto smiled. "Can your write sweetheart?" She watched Ace try and write. He could not hold the pencil properly, and it was hard to make out what he had writen. The page said: Fear, Dad and Pain on it.

Kineta dashed over, and stared intently at the paper. She knew what he wanted to tell them. "They hurt him, Mom, Dad. They didn't just beat him up, they really, really hurt him. And it scared him, really bad. He loves Dad so much...that's why his name is on here." She looked over at Ace, her eyes asking whether she was right or not.
Seth looked at Kineta in amazement. Did you think that she was so good at interpreting words?

Ace drew the words: Yes, Love, Family and last of all, Blood. He looked back at Kineta and show her the paper. He now had full use of everything exept, he had no voice, and no legs.

Kineta looked hard at the paper, then closed her eyes, and thought for a long time. It wasn't easy, but she thought she could make it out. "He loves all of us, so much...he doesn't want us to leave him, because he's afraid that it'll happen again if we aren't here to support him. It's not just physical blood...it's...it's more than that, like they tried to beat up your soul, too." She wasn't so sure on that one, but she looked over at him again, her eyes again asking for affirmation.

Ace looked back at the paper and continued writing. He write new words, words more advanced: Swordblade, Father, tears.

Kineta found this one easier. "They used a knife, or a sword to hurt him...then Dad found him, and Ace cried...and Dad helped." She was finding it easier and easier to interpret the writing now that it was getting easier, almost like a second sight.

Ace kept writing things related to Seth. He wrote words that came as odd, more and more: Killing, Fish, To Many and Dad.

That one was hard. Kineta sat back on her heels, thinking back into their past together, Ace not wanting to kill the fish for supper..."When Dad took him fishing, he didn't want to kill the fish, because it wasn't their time. Too many fish already died, why kill another one? And Dad listened, and didn't kill the fish."

Ace nodded then put down the pencil and tried using his legs, still, they did not move. He turned and stared at Seth again.

Seth smiled at him, then looked over at Kikoto. Did you know that she knew so much about him? I sure didn't. He sat beside Ace on another chair.
Kineta paused a moment, then fled into her room, and sprang up on the window ledge. She left the door open, but gazed out the window, her long, brown, slightly spiky hair falling over her shoulders. Her ears flickered backward to listen to her parents talking, their breathing, and most of all, Ace.

Kikoto shook her head. "Ace sweetie, are you hungy?" Ace did not stop looking at Seth.

I'll ask him. "You hungry?" Seth asked Ace, cocking his head to one side curiously.
Kineta flicked her ears back, listening. SHE was hungry, if no one else was, but she could eat later.

Ace shook his head then fell off the chair. He used his arms, sense he had no leg power, and started crawling over to Kineta's room when he heard his mother scream and run over to him.

Kineta heard Ace fall, and immediately whirled around, flung herself off the ledge, and dashed over to him. She crouched beside him. "Ace? What's wrong? Do you need me for something?" She asked, helping him sit up, her ears cocked forward, listening for any tiny signals from him.

Ace looked at Kineta flatly. He knew she was hungry. He shook his head at her, his eyes narrowing. If she was smart, she would get it.

"Oh." Kineta got it easily enough. "But you have to eat too." She dipped her shoulder under his, and stood up, half dragging him back to the chair, and making him sit. Then she walked to the kitchen, made a simple sandwich, and sat on the floor beside his chair.

Ace smirked and crossed his arms. So he couldn't walk, and he couldn't talk. He could still be his old self.

Kineta looked up at him, and stuck out her tongue, finishing her sandwich. "Yeah?" She crossed her arms, and imitated him exactly, right down to how she held her ears, trying not to burst out laughing, then stood, made a sandwich, and gave it to him. "Eat." She ordered, smirking right back at him.

Ace turned his head away, still smirking, then grabbed the sandwich and turned his head back and slowly ate.
