Erai had finally managed to get away from Zade for awhile. She crept through the streets, low to the ground, until she found the house she was looking for. She uncoiled her steel rope, flung it up, and made sure it held, then began to climb. Halfway up the wall, she looked down, hearing something. She was always silent, always, this was no exception.

Ace walked the streets of his village. His legs had come back, and so had his voice. He was much more quiet then he had ever been, but it was expected. He had his arms locked behind his head, and he leaned back slightly, just wandering.

Erai froze when the Cat passed below her. She held her dagger in her mouth, a blade in each hand, and kept climbing rapidly, soon she reached the roof, and found a way in. She slipped inside, and found her victim, then slashed his throat ruthlessly, like the assassin she was. She sprang back out, shutting the panel behind her, and crept along the edge of the roof, occasionally jumping from rooftop to rooftop, trying to get to the forest. She tried to keep her shadow from showing on the ground, but failed.

Ace walked along, then he say a shadow and looked up, he saw a girl jumping from the buildings tops, heading toward the forest.

Erai slowly turned her head to fix her icy grey eyes on the figure below. She froze, seeing him look up at her, crouched on the edge of the roof and watching him silently.

Ace stared at the girl, they his ears twitched and he scratched one.

Now Erai noticed his cat ears. She cocked her head to one side, leaning forward slightly, curious despite her mission. No one else had seen her, and they wouldn't unless they found Ace looking up at her.

Ace stared up at her, then cracked a smile and continued walking. His ears constantly moving, listening to new and different sounds all the time.

Erai turned when he did, and sprang rapidly across the rooftops, picking up speed. Soon she was ahead, then she froze again when she ran out of rooftops. She had underestimated this, a fatal mistake. She sat back on her heels, and thought out the best way to escape.

Ace kept walking in a straight line, until he came to the same place she had had to stop. "You better jump." He spoke to her softly and calmly, and kept going.

Erai had figured that out. Duh. She muttered in her head, then stood, backed up on the roof, and shot forward. She took a flying leap, and rolled on the impact of landing, then sprang into a tree. He was safe from her, she was keeping watch for townspeople at the moment.

Ace turned and was about to leave from her sight when he felt an arm around his neck pull him back.

Erai gently pulled him back, then her hand was on his shoulder. She was only two inches shorter than he was. "Never tell anyone you've seen me here." She warned him, then let him go. She glanced back over her shoulder, as she turned slightly, the blades on her arms and legs glinted in the sun.

Ace turned and walked away, with out a yes, or no, or any form of agreement, even though he had no reason to tell.

Erai was not going to leave until she had a yes on not telling anyone about her. She sprang after him, and walked without any sound alongside him.

Ace continued walking, never saying a word. His ears twisted and turned, listening, but that was about it as he walked.

Erai continued walking, in total silence, the metal spikes on her boots not making the slightest sound even when they went over rock.

Ace stopped and sat on a large rock after about fifteen minutes of her following him. His ears flicked in the warm sun that was drawn to their darkness.

Erai scaled a tree, and crouched there, then started cleaning her blades, the blood deciding not to be stubborn about it, for once. She finished, and looped her legs under the branch, then sat watching him.

Ace took to throwing pebles into the pond he was sitting by. He often came here, and he often did this. He watched the riples thin before throwing another stone.

Erai still didn't say anything, but she watched with interest. Then she saw a piece of paper on the ground, and jumped off the branch, running over to it. She stared blankly at it, unable to read the note.

Ace closed his eyes and laid back on the rock, smirking. "You can't read." His ears twitched.

"I'm memorizing it." Erai lied, still staring at the note, desperately trying to read it, but unable to. He probably didn't know that he had just hit on a very sensitive area of her life.

Erai twitched, her eyes flickering over to him. "So?" She growled, but there was an underlying tone of distrust, beneath that, very, very slight liking.

Ace walked over to her and sighed. "So, your reading someones lost shoping list." He smiled at her warmly.

Erai glared at it. Well, it wasn't her fault she couldn't read! "Um..I knew that...?" She muttered, then ripped it to shreds.

Ace smiled. "Its okay if you can't read." He walked back to his rock and sprawled out on it again.

"No it isn't." Erai mumbled. He didn't know about her and her brother's note, and she wouldn't tell him. They never would, not unless one of them found out how to read.

Ace shrugged. "Whatever....."
