Myst sighed, looking down the vast abyss of darkness that stretched before her and Chridhe. The stag snorted, and rubbed his muzzle against her arm.
I do not like this. His thoughts connected to hers, and the girl scratched his ears, rubbing her fingers through the thick red fur that grew around long, many-tined antlers. More than one hunter had tried to shoot him down, but they had managed to escape those.
I know. But we'll be fine, there's bound to be a way through. She smiled, and stood beside him. Dropping to hands and knees, she crawled to the edge of the abyss, and looked down. There seemed to be no bottom. Even in the middle of the mountains, it stretched from east to west, denying passage unless one could fly. Most people could not. Standing up, she sprang back to her Bound creature and looked for a way across. There's got to be some way through, or someone to help. There usually is, right?
Usually. We can't count on it this time, Myst. Chridhe shook his head and lowered his head to graze, tall antlers swaying as he moved his head about to reach at the tender stalks.
I'll try to find a way with my magic. Myst murmured, and closed her eyes, probing the crevasse with tendrils of thought to find a shallower place. She reached downwards with her mind, and found something completely unnatural. Reaching further, something suddenly jabbed at her mind with a dark, evil-feeling thought, and her silver eyes snapped open. She stared down. There's something there!
I know. That's why I don't trust it. The stag lifted his head, and twisted it so his neck prevented her from moving forward. Taking two careful steps back, he looked at her. We have to leave this place, it isn't safe.
I agree. But why didn't you tell me before that there was something down there? Myst questioned, staring at him and grabbing an antler, swinging herself onto the slightly orange-tinted, red back as they moved gently away from the gouge in the earth.
I couldn't. It wouldn't let me. Chridhe sighed, and walked back through the trees, when he froze, staring into the shadows.
There had to be something there. But what?
ooc//to those who had the patience to finish reading that long-winded post ...everyone's welcome to post here, and I don't mind multi-person roleplays. There can be 3 or more people roleplaying on this thread if you'd like. But there doesn't have to be.
