Bretagne hummed merrily to herself, bounding through the forests of her homeland. Her fox ears flicked back and forth, and she sprang onto a rock, looking down at her reflection. Red-streaked brown hair framed her heart-shaped face, and she grinned down at herself. Deep crimson eyes looked back at her, gleaming with mischief. A grin flitted across her face, revealing sharp, pointed fangs, and she stood up after looking at her reflection thoroughly. The aura of a human hung nearby, and she trotted through the trees with twitching tail to find out who it was and if they could cause mischief for them. At last, breaking through the brush, her form emerged, and she spotted a boy about her own age sleeping peacefully under a tree. With a single bound, she was across the clearing, and crouching by his head. Poking his shoulder, she flicked her long, pale orange tail, and waited for him to wake up, a smirk across her tan face.

Alister felt pressure on his shoulder and awoke. He didn't immediatly open his eyes, instead he slowly and quietly brought his hand within range to reach into the pouch on his waist if he needed. Then he slowly opened his eyes and yawned. He had had a nice nap and was now quite energetic. Before him was a girl around his age. He was quick to spot her abnormalities; a red tail resembling that of a fox, fox ears and her bright red eyes. He was at a slight unease because of the look on her face; that of someone looking to cause mischief. But he would not let that ruin his manners.
"Hello there. Do you require my assistance?" he said with a slight smile on his face. It was not a true one but he was a adept at masking his true feelings.

Bretagne smiled, and sat back on her heels, eyes dancing. She shook her head negatively, and pushed her hair back over her shoulders with one wrist. Usually she didn't get a reception like that, most decided right away that she was trouble and either chased her off, or ran. This could certainly be interesting. "Nope. Although, isn't it more of a day for something other than sleeping under a tree?" She grinned brightly, tail twitching back and forth slowly across the lush green grass. Early summer was one of her favourite seasons - it was so warm, and she didn't have to rest nearly as much as over the winter because it was so hot and pleasant. Although at times it did get too hot, normally it wasn't too bad. Today was an exceptionally nice one, though. The sun was high in the sky, but not blazing hot. A few clouds scattered the sky, and a gentle breeze drifted through the forest lazily, stirring up the leaves wherever it blew. It was free, totally free to go wherever it wanted to. If breezes wanted to go anywhere, that is.

There's not much else out here to do. Not at home and not here. The sun felt like a blanket on his skin making him feel nice a warm and it was excellent to warm and comfort him while he slept. Alister sat up and looked at her Crimson Red eyes again. Though a tad unnerving, they had a sort of unusual appeal to them. Alister wasn't sure why. Perhaps there was magic involved. Isn't it more of a day for something other than waking me from my nap? he said paralleling her previous question but it didn't sound quite as good as it seemed that it should have so he ended up wishing that he had thought it out a bit more. He was well rested and may have woken soon anyways and if she needed help his nap was unimportant. But he would not let on to this detail of course.

A shrug lifted Bretagne's shoulders for a moment, then they sank back to their regular positions and she smiled slightly, two pointed fangtips flashing for a moment. She rested back on her heels, fox ears twitching forward to point towards him and listen, and she grinned suddenly. "Perhaps. Don't you get lonely, though? I mean, sleeping under a tree with no one to talk to doesn't strike me as all that much fun." A charming smile appeared across her face, and she rested her knees on the ground, looking at him with those crimson eyes. However, behind them, secrets and shadows lurked, just out of sight but not invisible.

Alister wasn't sure that he trusted her. She was too strange to be human, unless she had been altered magically. More likely that was not so and she was not human at all. He would have to be alert for any sign of deception. The fangs stood out when she smiled but told him nothing. He could force her to tell him the truth with one of his charms but if she ended up being innocent then it would be wasted and it might cause her to run away. He had powerful magic, but only in the presence of other powerful magic. He looked at her eyes again and his concentration broke. Uh, I suppose so. A peaceful nap is nice but being alone all the time is no fun. Why do you ask? he said as he tried to regather his train of thought. She was causing trouble without even meaning to, though it was Alister's fault for letting himself be phased. He of course showed no dismay or sign of a problem on the outside.

There was a slight pause before she spoke as she considered, then crossed her long legs and shrugged, eyes wandering back to fix on his own once again. "Well, I suppose I mean to ask you if you'd like some company. If you do I can hang around. If you don't...well, then you don't and I can leave." The sudden desire to shapeshift into her true form surfaced in her mind, but she didn't change. That would be quite foolish, considering she had been in this form the entire time and would likely both frighten and shock him if she transformed into a white fox with nine tails out of the blue. "So tell me, where do you live, anyway?" Cocking her head to one side with obvious inquisitive interest, she smiled, and awaited his answer. If he didn't want to, that was fine too. It was not really necessary, after all.

Alister finished retrieving his train of thought and tryed to avoid direct contact with her eyes though he was fairly certain that it would not happen again. He could only make so many mistakes before they become apparent he was good at hiding his feelings but not perfect. So he let his eyes wander for a moment to her hands, then her legs, then he realized that eye contact was a good idea after all. He reestablished contact then considered for a moment. He was bored. If she meant him harm then he surely had a charm to fend her off. I suppose it couldn't hurt. I don't mind you here. I'm Alister and I live in a village just outside the forest. he said wondering if she truly did just want to keep his company. That would be nice. She seemed like she could be a nice girl, though something was still off. Then he remembered the obvious. The tail, ears, eyes and fangs. So he went ahead and got the question out of the way. Who are you?

A shadow crossed her face briefly, but then it flitted back into the recesses of her eyes, vanishing from sight, and she shrugged. "My name's Bretagne. I'm really not much of anybody." Shaking her hair back, she looked at him with bright, flashing eyes that constantly seemed to be shifting shades of red, and perhaps they were. Eyes like that could conceal many shadows, hide any secrets that could be kept by anyone. "Though as you probably guessed, I'm not human." A grin rested upon her lips, but something very dark was hidden behind it. Shifting her position on the grass, she shrugged carelessly. "Although, it may be just as well you don't know truly who I am as of yet."

He didn't like the sound of that. He fingered a charm in his pouch and then decided against it and lifted his hand out of it. He would simply ask first, if it came down to it, then he would invoke a charm. Why shouldn't I know? You are, afterall, going to be keeping me company.

The smile faded from her face, and she fixed him with a hard, blazing crimson stare. "You're playing with fire." She murmured, watching him. She then shrugged simply, and didn't shift her gaze from his face. "I'm far, far from human. Though if you insist upon knowing, I can show you who I really am." She smirked challengingly, almost daring him to ask who she was. Her outline shimmered, rippling insubstantially like a breeze ruffling the surface of a pond. "Even if you don't..." There was an explosion of crimson light, and she became a cream-coloured fox, the size of a small horse, with nine flowing tails. Dropping her haunches onto the ground, she cocked her head at him and smirked. "I did warn you."

This did not daunt Alister in the least. It surprised him a bit but the effect was deminished by the fact that she had fox features before. He reached back in the pouch and felt through his charms. The charms themselves were magic so that he didn't need to look at them to identify them. If he simply touched them he knew what they were. He found the one he wanted after half a moment and then brought his hand out of the pouch with it. It looked like a glowing transparent-blue ball. Interesting form. 9-tails. It obviously has some sort of mechanism to harm me. I don't know what it is but it doesn't matter. Don't come any closer or I'll use this on you. It's a charm of mine, one shot, but one is enough. I have warned you!

Bretagne raised a brow, and lowered herself to the ground, watching Alister. All nine tails swayed behind her, curling over her back. She smiled, and shook her head, ears flicking towards him. "Do you think I'm going to try eat you or something? I told you that I was not human. And if I had really intended to harm you, I would have done so before you even woke up." Resting her muzzle on her forepaws, her canine lips twitched upwards in a wry smile. "And you're right. I do have a mechanism to harm you, if you're indeed fool enough to try harm me." The Fox warned, raising her head and fixing him with her crimson stare.

He held the charm in his steady hand ready to invoke it at the slightest movement of the fox. It would be foolish to risk it, but if he used the charm she would be stuck in a shield that only he could lift. That would protect him from physical harm, but some types of magic could escape. Ok then, why did you approach and wake me if you did not intend to harm me? Her eyes weren't so appealing in fox form, nor was the rest of the fox. He didn't feel bad about being intrusive with his questions or about imprisoning her.

She rolled her eyes, and stood, watching the spell skeptically. She shook her head, and returned her gaze to the spellbearer. "I would have liked to talk. Though I suspect my chances are ruined by now." Her long tails curled tightly over her back, out of the way, and she surveyed him with now-annoyed eyes. "I know what you intend to do. And unless you have a desire to be cursed, I wouldn't do it if I were you." She commented, then her head jerked up as she heard something rustling in the trees. There appeared a man, tall and scrawny, who held some kind of glowing object in his hand. She bared her fangs, and growled threateningly at him, hackles rising. Suddenly she looked neither kind nor beneficially magical. Snarling, she tensed, and sprang forward, over Alister. Landing cleanly on the other side, she turned, and glared icily at the strange man, who raised his hand, and uttered a few ominous words. There was a brilliant flash of darkness, and something changed. Something drastic.

He awoke but kept his eyes closed. He? Who was he? He was Alister, Alister realized. Why had he forgotten? He thought about it for a moment and realized that he couldn't remember much of anything besides his name. He wasn't sure why but he thought about it and realized it may not matter. If he had not even thought to mentally note things that had happened recently, then they probably weren't important. But then why had he almost forgotten his name?
He would have kept pondering but he realized there was something warm pressed lightly against his back. He was laying on his side. He slowly opened his eyes and slowly leaned up on his elbow, then he sat up. He turned slowly using his hands to help, because he was still sitting. Laying there beside where was, layed a girl with red-streaked hair. She was very cute. It supported his opinion of her. But what was she doing laying there next to him? Or what was he doing laying there next to her. He couldn't remember who she was or where they were. He considered waking her but she looked so peaceful and couldn't bring himself to, so he remained sitting and stared at her face as he waited patiently for her to wake.

Bretagne stirred, turning over slightly on the grass. Her eyes fluttered open after a moment, and she lay on her back, looking up at him for a moment before pulling herself upright and shaking her hair back out of her eyes, since it seemed to have fallen over her face while she slept. "Oh...hello." She smiled, and looked over at him with a curious expression. Whatever was she doing in the middle of a forest with someone she didn't know? Or just didn't remember. All she knew was that her name was Bretagne, and she had some strange attribute to her, one that only she had and ever would. But she couldn't grasp it, every time she came close it flitted away beyond recognition again. "Well...I don't mean to offend you or anything, but who are you?" A friendly smile appeared across her face, lighting up her crimson eyes, and she cocked her head.

So she didn't know who he was. If he had known her before he probably would have remembered anyways. She didn't seem like someone he could possibly have forgotten if he wanted to. And she seemed pleasant also. Her smile seemed to warm him momentarily and her eyes were shining in the light that beamed in through the trees. They were bright red but that somehow appealed to him. After a moment he realized he'd missed some major details about her such as her fox ears and a fox tail that he could see a bit of behind her. Somehow those didn't seem strange to him. They only contributed to her appeal, and he wasn't at all sure why. After a moment he snapped out examining and thinking about her and he remembered her question. Um, hello. I'm Alister, and it's no problem. I honestly don't remember you either... the slight smile he had worn since he woke and noticed her faded into a frown momentarily, then he held a mutual expression, neither happy nor sad. He wasn't sure why.

Bretagne nodded, and shrugged, then smiled brightly. "I'm Bretagne, it's nice to meet you. Well, I suppose names are a start, aren't they?" Crossing her legs, she twitched her tail, not even realizing she was doing it. Something was very strange here. She was having a strange sense of deja-vu, as if she knew him. This was odd...she had never met him, she was fairly sure, and yet she could remember him clear as day, now. Also, there was something about herself she hadn't had before she woke up, and something she knew she had before but had no clue what it was now. Shaking her head to dismiss the issue, she allowed her face to relax, a slight curve upwards at the corners of her lips all that remained of the smile. "Do you know how we got here? I sure don't."

He shook his head wishing he had the answer for her. I have no idea... She seemed familiar and yet different. Maybe he did know her somehow but she seems different so he didn't notice. I'm pretty sure we aren't here before... It seems different too. He realized that she wouldn't know what he meant by "too" but it was too late to take it back.

Bretagne nodded thoughtfully. "I don't remember anywhere like this...I don't think I could live somewhere and not remember it." She commented, scanning their surroundings with searching eyes, eyes that looked around sharply as if hunting for memory in the very leaves of the trees. "I guess we'll have to figure it out somehow...but how, exactly?" She sighed, and turned back to Alister, ears drooping in thought. "Though I'm not entirely sure how to jog one's memory."

I know! Alister said and reached down to his waist into a pouch. Then he paused. It was empty. Now why did I do that? How could an empty pouch help us? I didn't even realize that pouch was there before and yet-- He stopped before he further confused him self, then said Anyway, I guess I can't help in that respect. he said sliding his foot back and forth on the ground frowning again. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't hide a blush caused by the embarrassment of the strange occurence.

Bretagne smiled, but didn't laugh at him. She probably didn't have anything better, after all. Drawing a small, polished stone out of a pocket, she tossed it back and forth from hand to hand, thinking. She watched its gleaming red surface flash as it passed through the sunlight, and chewed her lip thoughtfully, tail flicking at random behind her. At last she stopped tossing it, and dropped the small rock in the grass, looking at Alister. "That's odd...why would you have a pouch if there's nothing in it?" She spoke half to herself, but her crimson eyes wandered to him and flicked to the pouch. There had to have been something in it, or else that pouch would not be there. "I might have something, if I can find it." Digging in her pockets again, she at last found an asymmetrical object with an extremely weird aura. "Hm...I recognize this, but what is it?"

He watched the object intently wondering if he would remember anything about it but he did not. I can't say that it seems familiar actually... What could it be? Perhaps they would find out. Maybe we'll figure out why I have this pouch in time...

Bretagne nodded, and frowned, twitching her tail in complete agitation. What annoyed her was that they both had erased memories, and yet, what had they known that someone wanted hidden? Why? She sighed, and scratched her ear, the same appendage twitching when she was finished with it. "Yeah...I hope so. I want to get my memory back, I don't remember anything except that I have something I didn't before. But I don't know what it is. What about you?" The Fox cocked her head towards him curiously, ears angled towards him to catch his voice as well as she possibly could. There was something afoot with this situation - the circumstances were just too strange. However, there would be time. Settling down, she yawned, and looked at the sky, judging the time to be around two in the afternoon or so. Strange. Everything was so strange.

He considered a moment. I feel a bit tired, I almost feel like I broke something but it will pass. Perhaps because of the memories. I can't get over the pouch thing... I want to figure that out. He paused for a moment, then added "You seem familiar... But you also seem different. Any idea why that is?

Bretagne shook her head, and smiled slightly, not sure herself why she saw him the same way. She felt like she had met him before - but she was sure she never had. However, if she was sitting in a forest trying to get her memory back with him, surely they had to have met! This was certainly a confusing situation, and she intended to get to the bottom of it. "No...although if you have a pouch, you must have had something in it at one point. What, though?" A frown creased her brows slightly, and she looked at a tree pensively, tail twitching sluggishly across the grass. "I think we must've met before. Where, though? And none of this forest looks familiar at all, either." Bretagne waved her hand vaguely at the thick border of trees around their clearing, and sighed softly, looking back to Alister. "D'you think someone would be able to tell us?" Personally, she didn't have much hope of that. Shifting her position to sit on her heels, she reached through her mind for just a thread of memory, anything that would help them figure all of this out. A warm, alive sense tugged at the back of her mind, hidden deep in the recesses of her thoughts. There was something about it that whispered magic! but she was not sure what it was. Perhaps it was magic; though of what type she could not tell. Something reasonably powerful and mystic, though. Something...unique. She got the same sense about Alister, and racked her mind searching for the answer with feverish determination, hunting for the answers relentlessly.

I... I wish I knew the answer to all of those questions, but I'm afraid that I don't... The forest does not look familiar, but it would make sense that we've met before, I suppose. Alister fell a small pain in his stomach and rubbed it a little. Maybe there will be a village nearby this forest that knows us... Plus if we don't... I'm starving...

Bretagne nodded, and pulled out of her trance, standing up and smiling slightly at him. "Well...let's go find something to eat. Maybe we'll find something useful on the way." She looked around with bright eyes, and twitched her tail, then started for the edge of the border of trees before them.

Walk, walk, walk; that's all he ever did. He stood at about a foot and a half tall and had talons on his hands. He looked like a demon... Because that was essentially what he was. An Imp. A tiny demon. A Demi-demon of sorts. He lived to have fun and cause mischief. There was nothing else for him, because of his purpose, the way or looked, or what he was. So he was content with mischief. Right now he knew how to cause plenty. The voices always told him about things and he listened because usually it helped him in his life mission of causing mischief. There were two new arrivals to this world. They were both fairly powerful but both had an unfortunate condition that was easy to take advantage of. He knew the voices by name, and they were all bad names. Not unlike him. So he had been walking for hours to his destination and victims. If they were not distressed by what he had in mind he could simply hurt them. Not as fun, not as sophisticated, not as interesting, savage, painful, ruthless, but still, things like this drove his existence. He was near. The voices always knew what they were talking about. They told him more this time than usual though. But this time there was more mischief to be done. To your left, just inside that forest. a voice said. So he turned and there they were. The typically extroadinary fox girl and the remarkably normal human man with a not so normal ability. Of course he didn't know that. When he wanted to go fast he was perfectly able, so he moved about 100 times his walking speed for half a second and stopped just before them, the wind he created blowing the girls hair back and blowing the leaves on the ground into their faces. Hello there! he said opening his mouth, causing his fangs to become visible. I'm... Imp. Don't bother introducing yourself. I know exactly who you are... Some of the voices made a slight chuckle. He knew this would be interesting.
